Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Iran -- Shahriar Iranmanesh also said by holding Quranic courses in countries like Tanzania, attendees in these courses can participate at the international Quranic Olympiad of Al-Mustafa University with better preparation, thus elevating the level of the Olympiad.
The university’s Quranic Olympiad is annually held in the holy city of Qom with the aim of creating a basis for a new Quranic movement in the world.
Mr. Iranmanesh said that students from different countries of the world study at Al-Mustafa International University where the programs are aimed at promoting the Islamic and Quranic culture and teachings. “Graduates of Al-Mustafa University strive to foster Islamic culture in their home countries.”
He referred to the activities of the university in Tanzania during the current Iranian year (beginning in March) and said that this year’s activities began with the launch of a Dar-ol-Quran center in Zanzibar. He noted that there are also plans to open Dar-ol-Quran centers in Dares Salam and other cities in the east African country.
“Among our other activities is publishing books on Quranic issues including a two-volume book on Tajweed recitation of the Quran. These books are in Swahili, a language spoken in southern and eastern parts of Africa.”
He said during the months of Moharram and Ramadan, Al-Mustafa University holds special Quranic programs in different countries. “Quran experts, memorizers and reciters are invited every year to attend the programs. Last year, a prominent Quran memorizer came to Tanzania from Iran and held a three-month Quran memorization course for seminary students and preachers.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mr. Iranmanesh said that Al-Mustafa University is cooperating with the Specialized Council for Developing Quranic Culture to elevate the Quranic status of the Islamic Republic of Iran among Islamic countries.
He concluded by saying that a data bank containing information on Quranic activities around the world should be developed in order for better organizing Quranic activities in different countries.
